Big Top, big cats coming to Fletcher Oct. 2

FLETCHER – The Big Top and all of its performers are coming to Fletcher Oct. 2 for two sensational shows that are bound to capture the interest of children and adults alike. The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, which is based in Hugo, Oklahoma, will raise the performing tent at 9 a.m.

Devil Dog Run returns to Elgin Oct. 1

ELGIN – Runners wishing to participate in the Marine Corps League’s 29th annual Devil Dog Run should preregister for the event, said organizer David Hull. The event attracts hundreds of runners and spectators from across the region, Devil Dog Run’s website states. The event is open to the public.

Oklahoma economy ‘robust,’ state treasurer says

No one injured in structure fire

No one was injured when a vacant building caught fire early Wednesday morning in northwest Comanche County. Firefighters were dispatched to the blaze, which was in the fire district for the Edgewater Park Volunteer Fire Department’s response area, shortly before 1 a.m.

Gas prices continue to fall

OKLAHOMA CITY – While U.S. wholesale gasoline prices at the end of August dropped to their lowest levels since before Russia’s war against Ukraine, prices in Oklahoma fell to a statewide average $3.43 a gallon. Pump prices in southwest Oklahoma slipped even lower prior to the Labor Day holiday.
