Big Top, big cats coming to Fletcher Oct. 2

FLETCHER – The Big Top and all of its performers are coming to Fletcher Oct. 2 for two sensational shows that are bound to capture the interest of children and adults alike. The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus, which is based in Hugo, Oklahoma, will raise the performing tent at 9 a.m.

April is a young adult feline in need of a special family who will keep her as an indoor pet. She came into the shelter very ill, and, with treatment, is recovering very well.

Poor Boys Tractor Club at Apache Free Fair Aug. 17-20

APACHE — Tractor enthusiasts from across southwest Oklahoma will be able to see some antique machinery this weekend as Poor Boys Tractor Club will have many of their best Massey Fergusons and ‘poppin’ Johnnys’ on display at the Apache Free Fair.

Apache Fair continues through Saturday

APACHE – The Nancy Goodman Tate Memorial Horse Show, a pet show, a pie auction and other events are all part of the mix for the annual Apache Fair. Organizers anticipate a strong turnout for the fair, which began Thursday and runs through Saturday, said Apache Fair Board President Jimmy Patterson.

Take Stock in Kids this weekend

LAWTON ­– A “Take Stock in Kids” fundraiser designed to help young people involved with agriculture and livestock will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, July 16 at the Apache Casino Hotel Events Center in Lawton. The evening will feature dinner, live and silent auctions, a live band and dancing.

CHICKASHA – Get ready for the 2022 Extreme Monster Truck Summer Nationals, held at the Grady County Fairgrounds this weekend. High-flying, car-crushing action starts 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Elgin Animal Shelter is asking for donations to help provide for the animals. Currently the animals need: Purina Dog/Cat Chow/Puppy/Kitten Chow. Dog treats. Kong/tough toys. Stainless steel food/water bowls. Non-clumping clay cat litter. Litter pans. Wire- or hard-sided crates.

Independence Day in the Wichitas
