Fletcher Police are asking the public for help identifying two male suspects who attempted to burglarize an ATM at the intersection of Cole and U.S. 277 early Tuesday morning.

Lawmakers approve $20 million for drought relief

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Legislature, during last week’s short, three-day special session, earmarked more than $20 million from the state’s Emergency Drought Relief Fund to help offset the economic impact of the dry weather.

Oklahomans have a well-deserved reputation for extending a helping hand to others in times of need, such as tornadoes, fires and earthquakes. The latest disaster is Hurricane Ian. Public Service Co.

County to install new courthouse cameras

LAWTON – Comanche County has hired a company to install new cameras in the Comanche County Courthouse.   The Comanche County Board of Commissioners voted 2-0 Monday to approve a contract with Broken Arrow-based York Electronic Systems Inc.

With its wings closed, the tawny emperor is a rather inconspicuous butterfly. It resembles a dead leaf, in my opinion, but that is almost certainly a survival mechanism.

Late September brings no drought relief

Belase named Wichita Mountain Estates’ fire chief

LAWTON — Wichita Mountain Estates Volunteer Fire Department recently appointed Tom Belase as its new fire chief. Starting with the department in August 2021, Belase became assistant fire chief April 2022. On Sept. 16, the department named him chief after former chief, Brandon Wagner, resigned.

CASA to host cornhole tourney Saturday

CASA of Southwest Oklahoma will host the 2022 Boss of the Toss Cornhole Tournament on Saturday as part of the Elgin Fall Festival.   The tournament will take place in the Elgin Softball Fields parking lot on A Street, according to information from CASA of Southwest Oklahoma.
