OSBI agents are working with Fletcher police to help identify two burglary suspects who fled Tuesday morning after police interrupted their attempt to break into an ATM.
Fletcher Police are asking the public for help identifying two male suspects who attempted to burglarize an ATM at the intersection of Cole and U.S. 277 early Tuesday morning.
In a video provided by a witness, a black pickup truck can be seen backing up to the ATM, where at least one individual gets out of the truck and approaches the ATM. The sounds of chains rattling and the ATM alarm sounding can be heard as the witness instructs another individual to call 911.
Fletcher Police Chief Jason DeLonais said Corporal Chris Woodall arrived at the location before the suspects were able to successfully complete the burglary. The suspects reportedly fled in opposite directions — one fled along U.S. 277 toward Cyril and the other ran towards the railroad tracks. DeLonais said Woodall pursued one of the suspects, but they managed to disappear into the early morning fog.
DeLonais said the truck and other evidence was seized at the scene. Agents from the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation arrived Tuesday morning to help obtain search warrants and process the truck and other evidence for clues as to the identity of the suspects. DeLonais said the truck was reported stolen from Lawton.
“I expect that we will execute the search warrant and process the truck this (Tuesday) afternoon,” DeLonais said.
Authorities attribute Corporal Woodall’s rapid response to the 911 call as being instrumental in disrupting the suspects successful completion of the burglary, and in obtaining evidence which may prove crucial to identifying the suspects.
