O’Brien wins seat on Comanche County Commission

LAWTON – Elgin resident John O’Brien pulled off an upset in Tuesday’s GOP primary election, defeating longtime Comanche County Commissioner Gail Turner in the race for the District 1 seat on the commission.   O’Brien edged past Turner, capturing 1,116 votes or 51.64% of the total.

ELGIN – Fans and contestants will come in droves to the 13th annual Elgin Open Rodeo scheduled for Aug. 19-20 with an assortment of food vendors and entertainment. “We usually have anywhere from 1,800 to 2,300 people a night,” said event organizer Tim McIntosh.

Moving to 5A challenging, but Wyatt optimistic about returning starters
