Sterling routs Rush Springs 55-33

STERLING — Three Sterling players scored in double figures last Friday as the Tigers rolled to a dominating 55-33 win over Rush Springs. The win improved the team’s record to 15-7 with the district tournament looming next week at Velma-Alma.

These giant, rowdy but friendly boys are 7-month-old Great Dane/German Shepherd mixes. Like peas in a pod these two brothers like to explore, wrestle, and roughhouse with each other. Both are social, good with other dogs, and will make large loyal companions.

Lady Tigers win Comanche County Tournament

LAWTON — The Lady Tigers exacted some revenge against Chattanooga during the Comanche County Tournament last week with a narrow 41-39 win. Earlier in the season, Chattanooga swept past Sterling 55-39. Chattanooga is ranked No. 19 in Class B.

Finally! Tigers win close one against Alex

STERLING – A layup by senior Hayden Taliaferro with 16 seconds left propelled the Sterling Tigers to a 64-62 win over Alex last Friday. The two-point win was the first time this season Sterling has won a game decided by three points or fewer.

The Carolina chickadee is a fairly common bird and is easily attracted to backyard feeders. Since I featured the tufted titmouse last week, I thought it best to feature the bird which is often seen along with it.

Sterling sweeps past Ninnekah 71-49

NINNEKAH — Sterling posted a commanding 71-49 win over Ninnekah Tuesday night as senior Nate Anderson poured through 24 points to lead the way. The win improved Sterling’s season record to 10-7. Sterling took a 14-7 first quarter lead and extended the advantage to 35-16 at halftime.

Empire slides past Sterling in title game

RUSH SPRINGS — Sterling fell two points short in the championship game of the Black Diamond Classic last Saturday as Empire squeaked past the Tigers with a 52-50 overtime victory.

This beautiful, fluffy, large mixed-breed adult dog with a gentle personality is Sandi. She is house-trained, loves puppies, taking long walks and cuddling with people of all ages. She does well with male dogs, but needs a cat-free home.  Sandi will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Lady Tigers avoid holiday letdown with 57-16 win

FLETCHER — Christmas break didn’t impact the Sterling Lady Tigers as they returned to the hardwood and posted a convincing 57-16 win over archrival Fletcher Tuesday night. Sterling was led by senior Emma Nunley who finished with 24 points including four three-point buckets.
