Lady Owls on five-game win streak to start softball season

ELGIN — Power hitting and precise pitching has kept the Elgin girls softball team undefeated so far with a  5-0 mark, including three run-rule games. The Lady Owls have notched wins against Comanche, Altus, Lawton Eisenhower, Lawton MacArthur and Marlow. The largest margin of victory occurred Aug.

Lady Owls claw past Comanche

The Elgin Lady Owls have already claimed their first win of the season. The Elgin softball team triumphed over the Comanche Indians team 5-3 with the help of Aubrey Dacus who hit a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth.

Working together

On June 22, members of the Elgin Owls football team gathered along U.S. Highway 277 in Elgin to clean up loose tree limbs and debris. Working together, the team assisted in removing dead branches, carrying them off and burning them to prevent any hazardous fire conditions along the highway

ELGIN — Rose State College volleyball coach Katelin Shay expects Elgin signee Sarah Schuh to be in the starting lineup when the Lady Raiders begin their season in the fall. “We were able to give nine athletes a partial scholarship and she was one of them,” Shay said.

Sterling squeezes past Chattanooga 8-7

STERLING — The Lady Tigers squeezed past Chattanooga 8-7 Tuesday with a seventh inning, bases-loaded ground ball that provided the winning run. The win improved Sterling’s slow pitch softball record to 3-1.

Lady Owls stymied in final quarter as Classen wins 49-27

HENNESSEY — Elgin was held scoreless in the fourth quarter as No. 12 Classen SAS rolled to a 49-27 win over the Lady Owls in the Area Tournament last Thursday.

Classen bounces back for 50-39 win over Elgin

HENNESSEY — A spirited Classen SAS squad didn’t allow a seven-point halftime deficit get them down as the Comets rebounded for a 50-39 win over Elgin in the first round of the Area Tournament last Thursday.
