We know many of you have been missing your weekly copy of The Chronicle. Many of you have called, emailed and messaged us asking where The Chronicle went and when you would be receiving it again. We’re here with answers to those questions, and an introduction to an all-new, completely redesigned community newspaper that will provide all the news and information you’re used to receiving from The Chronicle, and much more!

What happened to The Chronicle?

The short, easy to digest explanation is pretty straightforward. The state of Oklahoma and the United States Postal Service have rules and regulations in place that govern the operation of newspapers. As part of that process, it became necessary for The Chronicle to merge with a sister newspaper. That merger has provided a golden opportunity.

Welcome to Southwest Chronicle!

Southwest Chronicle is an all-new community newspaper, built around the spirit and mission of its former publication. Southwest Chronicle will continue to provide the same coverage of local governments in the Elgin, Fletcher, Sterling and Medicine Park communities, along with news and information on community events, school activities, sports and feature content.

In addition to the content you’re used to reading, Southwest Chronicle will also provide travel and destination features throughout the state — if it’s a day trip within easy reach of southwest Oklahoma, we’re going to tell you all about it. If you read about a destination that strikes your fancy, we encourage you to send us your travel photos and tell us what you think of your trip.

To our valued subscribers: We are taking steps to ensure you don’t lose a single week’s worth of your newspaper subscription. All previous subscribers to The Chronicle will receive a four-week credit, extending their subscriptions to cover the weeks between The Chronicle’s final publication and the launch of the Southwest Chronicle.

We look forward to serving our communities by providing news and information you can’t get anywhere else. Welcome to volume one, issue one of Southwest Chronicle. We hope you enjoy reading this first issue as much as we enjoyed bringing it to you.
