LAWTON – One man was killed, and another man had minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday afternoon on state Highway 58, about three miles north of Medicine Park.

Lawton resident Shaun M. Beatty was northbound on SH-58 in a 2007 Ford F-350 pickup truck, and Belton, Missouri, resident Robbi Mizner was southbound on a 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. Beatty crossed the center line while attempting to turn left, and his truck collided with the motorcycle.

Beatty, 35, was wearing a seat belt when the collision occurred, according to the report. He was treated and released.

Mizner, 62, was wearing a helmet when the wreck occurred, according to the report. He was pinned underneath his motorcycle and extracted by the Jaws of Life. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Beatty was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, while Mizner was apparently in normal condition, according to the report.

Beatty is currently being held without bond in the Comanche County Detention Center. He was charged Sept. 21 in Comanche County District Court with murder in the second degree; driving with license cancelled, suspended or revoked; failure to maintain insurance; and failure to pay taxes due to (the) state. Beatty is next scheduled to appear in District Court at 3 p.m. Dec. 29, 2022.
