We made it to the first round of the playoffs and everything is going to go great and COVID is not going to interrupt the playoffs. Wrong!
The first round started with Deer Creek and Sands Springs being canceled then reinstated and them playing the game a day later on Saturday. So on to week two, surely we are safe. Wrong again. The week starts with Perkins-Tryon, which beat Pauls Valley handily, must forfeit but wait this is 2020 and Perkins gets a reversal and is playing this week.
Same scenario with Piedmont and El Reno, it is off~no wait they are playing now. Boone-Apache did not quite have the same luck, their game against Hooker had to be canceled and Hooker will advance in the playoffs. As of this writing there has been four other cancellations due to the pandemic and my heart goes out to the coaches and the teams that have worked so hard to get to this point.
One non-football note: The Masters was played this past weekend and Dustin Johnson made shambles of Augusta National and walked away with the green jacket shooting a 20 under to win by five strokes. As always, stay safe and healthy!
