It’s HOT!
Could whoever turned the oven on high and walked away, please show back up and turn it down? It is very hard to believe the temperatures we endured the past few weeks in southwest Oklahoma.
The scary part of it all is that a few of our fall sports have already started to practice. So I think it is important to mention to make sure as parents and coaches that we are making sure that our kids, as well as ourselves, are hydrating every day and all day.
Hydration is a process and not a one-time thing of downing a glass of water and then going out in to the heat. I was sent a text message by the trainer from Lawton High with a link that connected me to the NATA website. After spending some time browsing the site, I thought it was worth sharing. The information can be found at https://www.nata.org/practice-patient-care.
Speaking of heat and fall sports, football is just around the corner. Practice may start on Aug. 8 and then before you know it, we will be scrimmaging and headed into the first week of the season. So let’s stay as cool as possible and get ready for some fall sports.
As always, stay safe and healthy.
