Lady O's have a busy week

Elgin traveled to Apache on Monday, April 11 to take on the Lady Warriors. Hannah Endicott opened up the scoring with a line drive single. The Lady Warriors then rattled off nine unanswered runs to take a commanding lead. The Lady Owls scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning to cut the deficit all the way down to two runs before Apache scored eight runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the run-rule victory. Later in the day, the Lady Owls took on the Cache Bulldogs in the Battle of the Wichitas. Cache scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take an early lead. Elgin chipped into the lead in the top of the second inning when Kegyn Wendel drove in Sophia Monotoya on a line drive single. The Lady Bulldogs answered back with eight runs over the second and third inning to stretch the lead out. Elgin cut into the lead when Wendel drove in another run. The Lady Bulldogs responded with a run of their own to put the lead right back to where it was. The Lady Owls got a mini rally going when Endicott and Montoya both drove in runs to bring the lead back to seven runs. Elgin was not able to muster any more offense and dropped the contest to Cache. Elgin looked to bounce back on Tuesday to finish off the week when they took on the Newcastle Lady Racers. Newcastle started off the game with two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Elgin tied the game up in the second inning with a Hailey Rivers RBI single. The Lady Owls took the lead in the top of the third inning with five runs. Newcastle answered right back with six runs in the bottom half of the inning. Elgin cut the lead down to one run in the fifth inning when Kelsey Jones scored Endicott. In the top of the sixth inning Lainie Jones drew a bases loaded walk to tie the ballgame up. Endicott then drove in two runs to give the Lady Owls back the lead. The Lady Racers then scored six runs to retake the lead. Elgin could not find one more rally, and dropped the contest to Newcastle.
