Cache Bulldogs hosted the Woodward Boomers for the Bi-District Tournament. Cache started the postseason campaign off strong when Joseph Brown smashed a double into center field to score two runs and give the Bulldogs an early lead.
Continuing the early momentum, Ian Hodge, Reid Lyon and Brown all had RBIs in the second inning to make it 5-0.
The Dawgs’ bats stayed red hot in the third inning when Colton Rother and Hodge both drove in a run apiece and then Keegan Fink scampered home on a passed ball to stretch the lead to eight.
Kenyen Hayes drew a bases-loaded walk in the fourth to add on an insurance run. Joseph Brown called game in the bottom of the fifth inning when he crushed a ball for a solo home run to give Cache the run-rule walk-off win.
The Dawgs were right back at it in game two of the doubleheader.
After a Hodge single scored a run, Brown once again drove a home run over the outfield fence -- this time of the two run variety to make it 3-0.
Rother then tacked on to the lead with a line drive double.
In the bottom of the first the Boomers finally got on the board with a run.
The Cache bats hadn’t cooled down at all in the second inning when Lyon, Rother and Drake Jones combined for four RBIs to make it 8-1.
Woodward then clawed back into the game with three runs in the third.
The Bulldog offense exploded for eight runs in the top of the fourth inning to take a 16-4 lead.
Woodward answered back with six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 16-10.
The Boomers then rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning, but Cache was able to lock in and shut down the game. Cache won the Bi-District Championship with a score of 16-15 in the deciding game.
