STILLWATER – Oklahoma State earned the right to stay at home and host a Regional.
The Cowboys started off against the Missouri State Bears. OSU got off to a hot start when Nolan McLean drove a ball out to center field to make it 1-0.
In the third inning, Roc Riggio hit a home run to extend the Poke lead. McLean did it again when he drove another ball out of the park to make it 3-0.
In the fourth, Ian Daugherty, Caeden Trenkle, and Jake Thompson all had RBIs to make it 6-0. Missouri State answered back in the sixth inning with a four-run spot to make the game interesting.
Thompson and Griffin Doersching drove in runners to extend the lead back out to 10-4.
The Bears drug one run across in the seventh inning to shorten the lead to five.
Cowboys held on to advance into the Winners Bracket.
The Pokes then took on the always dangerous Arkansas Razorbacks.
Arkansas was able to jump out to an early lead in the first inning. The Pokes answered right back when Zach Ehrhard singled in Riggio to tie up the game. Arkansas drove a home run over the right-field fence to make it 2-1.
In the second inning, Riggio doubled in a runner to tie up the game once again. McLean and Riggio also homered in the inning to give OSU a 7-2 lead.
The Razorbacks then scored one run in the fourth inning, and two runs in the fifth to shrink the lead back to three.
OSU kept the offense going when Marcus Brown, Chase Adkison, and Riggio all had an RBI to make it a five-run lead. Arkansas scored three runs in the seventh inning to keep the see-saw effect going.
The Razorbacks then exploded for eight runs in the eighth inning, capped off with a grand slam to take a 16-10 lead. OSU then chipped away with two runs to take the lead down to four. Arkansas added four insurance runs in the ninth inning to secure the victory and send OSU to the losers bracket.
When the Cowboys met up with the Bears again, Missouri State jumped out to a nine-run lead in the second inning, with an exclamation point of a grand slam.
The Bears then added on three runs in the third inning to make it 12-0.
Oklahoma State responded with six runs in the fourth inning, four runs in the fifth, and the seven runs in the sixth to take the 17-14 lead.
Missouri State got one run back in the seventh inning via home run.
OSU kept the offense white-hot, scoring five runs in the eighth and seven runs in the ninth inning to take a 29-15 victory to advance to the Regional Final.
When Missouri State and Oklahoma State met on the gridiron back in the fall the final score was 23-16 a combined 39 points. This time, the two teams scored a combined 44 runs.
Oklahoma State still had work to do having to beat Arkansas twice to advance to a Super Regional.
After Arkansas jumped out to an early lead going up 1-0 in the first inning, David Mendham, Adkison, and the Riggio all had an RBI to give the Pokes a 3-1 lead. Razorbacks then tacked on a run in the bottom of the second to make it 3-2. Riggio continued his amazing regional driving a two-run shot to make it 5-2. Doersching then drove a home run of his own to make it a four-run lead for the Pokes.
After wild seventh and eighth innings, the Razorbacks and Cowboys were all squared at 10 heading into the ninth. Cowboys scored three runs and Arkansas scored two runs in the frame to send the game to extra innings.
Oklahoma State scored four runs in the tenth inning to help secure the victory and force an if-necessary game.
Arkansas jumped out on top in the game scoring four runs in the fourth inning. The Razorbacks added one on in the sixth inning.
The Cowboys answered back with a Mendham bomb to make it 5-1. Riggio doubled and Ehrhard singled in runs to make it 5-3.
Arkansas scored two in the top of the ninth to put the icing on the cake to down the Cowboys.
Oklahoma State saw their season come to an end in Regionals for the fourth straight season.
