Cache took on the Altus Bulldogs in a non-district matchup.
Altus got out to an early lead, scoring one run in the top of the order inning. Cache was able to match it when Drake Jones scored Gabe Diaz on a sacrifice fly.
Joseph Brown gave Cache the lead in the bottom of the third inning with a two-RBI double.
Colton Rother then drove home Brown to give Cache the 4-1 lead. That lead was gone as soon as it was gained as Altus answered back with three runs in the top of the fourth inning to tie the game up. Altus drove home two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead back.
Cache chipped into the lead when Alex Lema laid down a sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning to score a run. Cache tied the game up in the seventh as Jones drove in Reid Lyon.
Altus was able to take the lead in the top of the eighth and put the pressure on Cache in the bottom half of the inning. Cache could not answer the call and dropped the contest in extra innings.
Up next was District 4A-3 foe Lone Grove.
Cache got out to an early lead when Jones continued his hot spell at the plate driving in Kenyen Hayes.
The Longhorns struck back with five runs in the second inning to take the lead. The Horns added on to the lead with two runs in the third inning as well.
Lone Grove went on to tack on a run in the fifth and then two runs in the sixth inning to secure the blowout win.
Cache then squared off with Altus for the third time this season in the Battle of the Bulldogs.
Cache jumped out to an early lead when Jones, Brown, and Rother all drew free passes with the bases loaded. Cache extended the lead when Ian Hodge drove in Lyon to make it 4-0 in the second inning. Cache extended the lead even further when Rother was able to scamper home on a passed ball to make it 5-0.
Altus was able to chip away, scoring two runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Cache was able to get one of those runs back when Hayes was able to come in to score thanks to an Altus error.
Altus rallied, scoring one run in the fifth inning. After a leadoff walk Altus was down to their last out in the seventh inning. They were able to scrap three runs together to send this Battle of the Bulldogs to extra innings for the second time in a week. After a scoreless eighth, ninth, tenth and eleventh innings Altus had the winning run of first with two out, that was when Rassch drove a walk-off home run over the left field wall to give Altus the victory.
