WEATHERFORD — Eight Elgin wrestlers were crowned champions as the Owls won the team title at the Max Dippel Memorial Tournament in Weatherford last weekend.
The Owls won the tournament with 331 points followed by Weatherford in the runner-up spot with 208.5 points. Elgin is ranked No. 8 in Class 5A while Weatherford is No. 12 in Class 4A.
Crowned as individual titlists were Hunter Jackson at 120 pounds, Dylan Brown at 126 pounds, Nino Vidic at 132, Gage Elam at 138 pounds, Jack Anglley at 150, Jonavin Mullins at 175, Ritson Meyer at 190, and Colyn Donnelly at 215.
Gabe Dittmeyer finished second with 165 while Miles Walz finished runner-up at 175. Finishing fourth was Austin Elam at 144, George Tahdooahnippah was fifth at 157.
Four Elgin champions won their first place matches by pins while two others won by technical falls. Winning by pins were Brown, Elam, Mullins and Donnelly.
