State sees average of 2.08 inches of rain

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 2.08 inches for the week of June 6-12, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The June 7 U.S. Drought Monitor Report said drought conditions were rated 43% abnormally to exceptionally dry, down nine points from the previous week. Additionally, 35% of the state was in the moderate drought to exceptional drought category, down eight points from the previous week.

Statewide temperatures averaged in the upper 70s. Topsoil and subsoil moisture conditions were rated mostly adequate to short.

Here’s a look at how crops performed for the week of June 6-12:

Small grains: Winter wheat harvested reached 32%, up 23 points from the previous year but down one point from normal.

Canola coloring reached 88%, up eight points from the previous year but unchanged from normal. Canola harvested reached 15%, up two points from the previous year but down 22 points from normal.

Rye harvested reached 25%, up 13 points from the previous year but down four points from normal.

Oats jointing reached 95%, unchanged from the previous year but up one point from normal. Oats headed reached 80%, down three points from the previous year and one point from normal.

Row crops: Corn planted reached 90%, up one point from the previous year but down one point from normal. Corn emerged reached 80%, up three points from the previous year but down three points from normal.

Sorghum planted reached 45%, up six points from the previous year but down seven points from normal.

Soybeans planted reached 55%, up 10 points from the previous year but down four points from normal. Soybeans emerged reached 30%.

Peanuts planted reached 60%, down 14 points from the previous year and 19 points from normal.

Cotton planted reached 62%, up four points from the previous year but down five points from normal.

Hay: The first cutting of alfalfa hay reached 62%, down 15 points from the previous year and 17 points from normal. The first cutting of other hay reached 55%, up one point from the previous year but down two points from normal.

Pasture and livestock: Pasture and range condition was rated at 78% good to fair. Livestock condition was rated at 85% good to fair.
