Bulldogs get bounced in Regional Tournament

Cache 1 Blanchard 14

Cache 11 Harrah 9

Cache 8 Clinton 9

Cache traveled into the Lions’ Den in Blanchard for the Regional Tournament. The Lions played rude hosts, jumping out to an eight run lead after the first inning of play.

Cache got one of those runs back in the second inning, when Colton Rother scored Joseph Brown on a fielder’s choice to make it 8-1. Blanchard got that run right back in the bottom of the second inning. The Lions then added on two runs in the third and three in the fourth inning to help solidify the run-rule win.

Cache was up against elimination right away when they took on the Harrah Panthers.

Reid Lyon got the Dawgs on the board in the first inning when he drove in Ian Hodge and Keegan Fink. Cache extended their lead in the third inning when Brown doubled in a pair of runs and then later came around to score on a passed ball to make it 5-0.

After Harrah got one run back in the top of the fourth inning, the Bulldogs answered right back thanks to an RBI fielder's choice by Hodge, and then a single by Lyon to make it 7-1.

The Panthers were able to scrape two runs across the plate in the top of the fifth inning, in which Cache answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.

Harrah’s offense then got hot for five runs in the top of the sixth to make it a 11-8 Bulldog lead.

The Panthers got one back in the seventh inning but could not muster any more as Cache took the win.

The Dawgs took on the Red Tornadoes with a chance at a spot in the Regional Final on the line. Clinton jumped out to an early 6-0 lead after the first inning and looked to be on cruise control.

The Bulldogs chipped away at that lead in the second inning when Rother hit into an RBI fielder’s choice and then later stole home to make it 6-2.

In the third inning, Brown singled in Lyon on a line drive into left field to make it a three-run ballgame. The very next inning Brycen Pinkston scored Rother on an RBI groundout to cut the lead all the way down to two.

Clinton responded with three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 9-4.

The Dawgs weren’t done yet as they tacked together four runs in the sixth inning to make it 9-8.

Cache could not get a rally going in the seventh and saw their season come to an end.
