LAWTON — Comanche County Republican Party’s annual Spring Barbeque will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, April 23, at the Comanche County Fairgrounds, 920 SW Sheridan Road, the organization announced.
Along with fellowship and live and silent auctions, attendees can enjoy barbequed chicken, pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, desert and a drink.
In addition to meeting Republican candidates, the Spring BBQ – CCRP’s main fundraiser – allows attendees to learn about local, state and national issues. The event’s keynote speaker has yet to be announced. State Rep. and House Floor Presiding Officer Toni Hasenbeck, R-Elgin, will emcee the event.
“This is the kick-off for this year’s primary candidates,” said Comanche County Republican Party Chairman Daremy Gleaves. “It’s a great way for Republicans to get to know the candidates for Southwest Oklahoma.”
Sponsor tables of eight are $300; general admission tickets are $40. Candidate booths are $50 apiece. Tickets may be available at the door, but getting them early is preferred, according to an event-related news release. Donations sought

Among the donations already accepted include an original acrylic painting (The Red Wave) by former Oklahoma state Rep. Juliana Peyravy, an Armalite AR-15 rifle, an OU football signed by Heisman Trophy winners and All-Americans Steve Owens, Jason White and Billy Sims; a Billy Sims poster, a Jason White poster, an OU poster of Owen Field signed by Steve Owens, an OSU-signed basketball, a tree donated by Treehouse Garden Center, an antique bubble gum machine, and one of Mary Edmondson’s famous carrot cakes, the organization announced.
Proceeds help support state and local Republican candidates.
