Graveside services for Norma “Jean” West of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at Rose Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Scott Keneda will officiate. Viewing will be held from 1:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, 2020, at Ferguson Funeral. Jean was born June 13, 1927, in Grady County, to Hubert and Ercyle Miser. She passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2020, in Oklahoma City. She graduated high school from Chickasha in 1947 and college from Oklahoma Women’s College in 1951, where she earned a teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Pauls Valley and Ft. Worth, Texas. Jean married Ted West on Aug. 3, 1953. After moving to Ft. Worth, Texas, and starting a family, they moved back to Chickasha, where they farmed for more than 30 years. Jean was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was active in UMW. She loved playing bridge and traveling the U.S. and enjoyed Sunday drives around the countryside, especially to the family pasture in Middleberg. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Roberts, of Oklahoma City; her granddaughter, Rachel Roberts; and a sister, Frances Arthur Grimes, of Pauls Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted, in 2013; a son, Philip West, in 2007; and her brother, H.C. Miser, in 1945. Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
