ELGIN - After a two week hiatus, Elgin returned to their home football field on Friday, Nov. 6 to take on Chickasha.
Elgin won the coin flip and opted to kickoff to start the game.
Elgin went straight to their bag of tricks and opened the game with an onside kick, which they recovered.
Elgin setup shop at their own 49 yard line and Tyson Sheffield started the drive with a four yard run taking the ball down to the 45 yard line.
Quarterback Ricardo Smith found Jacobi Lund open and 45 yards later the Owls had an early 8-0 lead after Ricardo ran in the two point conversion. Chickasha responded later in the quarter when Cayss Lowery threw a 30 yard touchdown pass to Ronald Givens making the score 8-6 after the Chicks two point conversion failed.
Chickasha added a field goal late in the first quarter and then added another touchdown before halftime to take a 17-8 lead into the locker room.
Elgin received the kickoff after halftime and the drive started off with a nice 12 yard run by Ricardo Smith.
Two plays later Ricardo threw into coverage and Chickasha in- tercepted the pass and on the very next play hit pay-dirt to extend their lead to 24-8.
Things didn’t get any better for the Owls as Cayss Lowery scored on a three yard touchdown run that was sandwiched around two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns by the Chicks.
By the time the dust settled after the third quarter, Elgin found themselves trailing 45-8.
Chickasha tacked on two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to extend their lead to 59-8.
The Owls put on an eight play drive late drive in the fourth quar- ter with Ricardo doing the honors scoring from four yards out to the arrange the final score of 59-14.
Tyson Sheffield had 101 yards on the ground and Ricardo Smith added another 78 rushing yards for the Owls.
Ricardo was 6 for 16 passing with 64 yards and a touchdown but did throw three interceptions on the night. Jacobi Lund was the leading receiver with one catch for 45 yards and a touchdown.
Elgin will be in action on Fri- day, Nov. 13 at 7:00 p.m.,as they travel to Blanchard to open the first round of the Class 4A State Playoffs.
