Comanche County judges sworn in

LAWTON — Comanche County’s judicial staff is back up to full strength after two new judges were sworn in Monday.
Mayor JJ Francais and the Elgin City Council propose an April 4 special election to renew two sales taxes to fund streets and sidewalks and recreational facilities. ELGIN — This spring, Elgin voters will decide whether to renew two sales taxes which generate funds for parks and recreation facilities, road improvements and sidewalk repairs. The Elgin City Council signed off Tuesday on ordinances renewing the city’s 0.

Owls turn tied game into runaway 44-31

WEATHERFORD — A tied game quickly turned into a runaway for Elgin as the Owls outscored Lawton Ike 16-3 in the third quarter and advanced to the consolation championship in the Weatherford Classic. Friday’s 44-31 win improved Elgin’s record to 5-4 as the Owls are set to play Piedmont at 2:30 p.m.

CACHE — Elgin’s Jaylen Nettles and Christian Reed combined for 33 points Tuesday as the Owls knocked off Cache 61-34 in a Western Conference matchup. Nettles led all scorers with 17 points followed by Reed with 16. Jake Lohman and Nicholas Meraz scored nine each.
