County OKs professional services agreement

LAWTON – The Comanche County Board of Commissioners signed off Monday on an agreement to develop a method for dealing with sexual abuse cases.

With no discussion, the commission voted 3-0 to approve a professional services agreement between the Comanche County Health Department and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Coordinator Christina Thomas.

Under the agreement, Thomas will help the health department develop and implement a multidisciplinary approach to cases of sexual abuse and domestic violence. Specifically, Thomas will maintain an on-call schedule for SANE nurses, teach people about the importance of taking a multidisciplinary approach to the problem and educate stakeholders about when and how to contact a SANE nurse.

The agreement will begin Monday and continue through June 30, according to a copy of the agreement. The county will pay Thomas $750 per month for her work, and her total compensation will not exceed $9,000.
