Saving lives through Comanche County Boots and Badges

LAWTON – Comanche County’s firefighters, law enforcement officers, and local officials recently joined forces to help save lives across southwest Oklahoma and parts of north Texas.

Lawton Speedway remembers fallen racer Rob Bland

LAWTON ­– Cyril’s Rob Bland was a racer by every definition of the word. He raced the No. 16 Limited Modified at Lawton Speedway and many other tracks around south Oklahoma and north Texas. Bland was known for his kindness, willingness to help other racers, and his contagious laughter.

County approves DOC contracts

LAWTON – Comanche County Board of Commissioners approved two contracts with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections on Monday, allowing the Lawton Community Correction Center to assign prisoners to public works projects in the 1st and 3rd districts.

OCRS Sprints invade the Lawton Speedway

LAWTON – Lawton Speedway was invaded by the Oil Capital Racing Series on Saturday, July 9. USRA Limited Modifieds: Kyle Angel’s 18X, out of Chickasha, took the victory in Heat 1. Wichita Falls’ Jason Alexander won Heat 2.

Lawton Speedway slings dirt around on Texas Night

LAWTON – Lawton Speedway hosted their annual Texas on June 25, where all residents can get into the races free with proof of Texas residency. IMCA RaceSaver Sprints In the IMCA RaceSaver Sprints, Jermey Allen’s 17A started on the outside pole and was able to take the victory in Heat 1.
