Elgin traveled to Choctaw to take place in the Class 6A Slow-pitch Regional.
The first foe for the Lady O’s was the Westmoore Lady Jaguars. The Lady Jags got out to an early lead scoring two runs in the top of the third inning. Elgin responded with five runs on four RBI singles from Jordan Johnson, Kelsey Jones, Sophia Montoya, Kegyn Wendel and a bases loaded walk from Hailey Rivers.
The Lady O’s bats stayed hot in the fourth as Jordan Johnson drove in another RBI with a single into right field.
A Westmoore home run in the fifth inning cut the lead down to one run. The Lady Jags then rallied for five runs in the sixth inning to tie the game.
Elgin was not able to rally and dropped the contest.
The Lady Owls then were faced with a win-or-go-home game against the Choctaw Lady Yellowjackets. After a scoreless top of the first inning the Lady Jackets’ offense exploded for 17 runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a commanding lead.
Choctaw was able to drag two more runs across in the bottom of the second inning to take a 19-0 lead.
Two bright spots for the Lady Owls were a pair of base hits by Jaemie Johns and Sadie Arnold. The Lady Owls were not able to muster any runs in the contest. Dropping the game and saw the Lady Owls’ season come to an end.
