Affectionate adult feline seeks loving home. Sassafras, this snuggle-bug, is a friendly feline who loves people of all ages, and does alright around other cats and well-mannered dogs. Sassafras will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption.

Independence Day in the Wichitas

Independence Day festivities will be plentiful in the Comanche County communities of Elgin, Medicine Park, Fletcher, Wichita Mountain Estates and Sterling. ELGIN Elgin’s 2nd annual Sounds of Freedom Festival will be held Saturday, July 2 at the Youth Sports Complex. Festivities begin at 8 a.m.

Meet Joon the jumping bean!   Joon is a young, energetic girl who loves to give and receive hugs and kisses. She’s a low riding, compact bird dog mix who absolutely loves to play in the water, fetch toys and soaks up attention from people of all ages.

Elgin OKs new voting wards

ELGIN – Elgin City Council authorized the city on Tuesday to publish a legal notice concerning changes to the city’s voting ward boundaries.

Elgin OKs $3.52M budget

ELGIN – Elgin City Council unanimously approved on Tuesday a $3.52 million budget proposal for the coming fiscal year. The spending plan anticipates that the city will generate about $3.52 million in revenue and spend approximately $4.

Students’ interest prompts class project

ELGIN – Recent students of Crystal Edwards’ third grade class dove headlong into an era in history that exemplified the strength and perseverance of the American spirit. After World War I, the Roaring Twenties’ Big Band sounds resonated from phonographs and radios across the nation.

Paradise Valley VFD holds fish fry

PARADISE VALLEY – Paradise Valley Volunteer Fire Department held their annual fish fry fundraiser Saturday, June 4.   From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., along with live music by Anthony Spencer, supporters enjoyed fresh fried fish, barbeque, coleslaw, potato salad, french fries, hushpuppies and a dessert.
