Oklahoma drought conditions at 64 percent

Rainfall totals in Oklahoma averaged 0.17 of an inch for the week of July 4-10, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. The July 5 U.S.

Livestock company keeps state’s rodeos going

STERLING – A family-owned livestock business that spans four generations has kept Don and Mary Jean Dees busy organizing Oklahoma rodeos for the last 50 years. Rafter D Rodeo was started in the early 1970s by the couple and life has never slowed down.

This week, we'll get back to the birds with a common summer resident that isn’t commonly seen. At least, that’s always been my experience. The great crested flycatcher makes a lot of racket, though, but it stays inconspicuous by hunting mostly high in tree canopies.

The moon moth   This week’s featured creature is a majestic night dweller of the forest with a fleeting adult lifespan. Actias luna, the luna moth, is one of the most visually stunning moths in North America. It more resembles a butterfly than a moth and it is only found in North America.

PET OF THE WEEK: Sassafras

Affectionate adult feline seeks loving home. Sassafras, this snuggle-bug, is a friendly feline who loves people of all ages, and does alright around other cats and well-mannered dogs. Sassafras will be spayed and vaccinated prior to adoption.
